Danielle and Noah: Timeless Elegance at the Cold Spring Country Club
Danielle and Noah were married on a lovely day in March in a stunning ceremony and reception at the Cold Spring Country Club in Cold Spring Harbor, New York.
The stars were aligned from the moment Danielle and Noah first met. Danielle was riding the LIRR headed out to the Hamptons when a friend recognized her. As they caught up, she immediately noticed the cute guy her friend was traveling with. His name was Noah and they started chatting. He offered her a sip of his beer and they hit if off immediately. “I don’t fully believe in ‘everything happens for a reason,’ Danielle recalls, “But I do believe August 19, 2013 happened for a reason.” Their wedding story is as close as it gets to a modern day fairy tale.
A few days later, Danielle got a text from their mutual friend saying Noah had asked for her number. A call was made and they planned to meet. Looking back, Danielle said, “The comfort and ease I felt within minutes of our first date was unlike anything I had ever felt before. There was no forcing or contemplating with Noah…. It was a truly effortless connection.”
A relationship that feels so honest and complete from the start can make pulling off a surprise engagement especially tricky. Danielle and Noah had spoken about the topic, and everyone knew it was something she wanted. So when Danielle’s family planned a trip to Spain to celebrate milestone birthdays for her and her mom and sister-in-law, she expected nothing more than an amazing vacation with the people she loves most. They arrived in Barcelona, immediately dropped off their bags at the hotel, and headed out to sightsee. Wandering around Park Guell, Noah started saying incredibly sweet things to Danielle. Then he dropped to his knee and asked her to marry him. “I never saw it coming,” Danielle said, “My family captured every second of that special moment. It was incredible!”
Danielle had only one venue in mind for her wedding, the Cold Spring Country Club. Overlooking the Oheka Castle, the club’s grounds are an incredibly picturesque setting for a ceremony and reception. For Danielle though, the club holds a special place in her heart. Her grandparents were members. She has many fond memories of spending time there with her grandmother, with whom she was very close. Looking back, Danielle said, “Her presence was felt throughout that whole weekend. From making sure my husband’s alma mater, Wisconsin, played their March Madness game not only on Friday night, but 10 minutes AFTER the rehearsal dinner ended, to controlling the weather, she was there.”
The morning of her wedding, Danielle found a small alcove in the club’s very large locker room to get ready. As she set up the bridesmaids’ robes and gowns, a lovely maid who has been with the club for years said something that made Danielle truly feel that she was being watched over. The maid pointed out that Danielle had chosen to get ready in front of the very same locker that her grandmother used!
The entire affair emanated timeless elegance. “My gown ended up being everything I imagined,” Danielle recalls. She stunned in a dress by Oscar de la Renta that was classic with an avant-garde twist, expressed in structure and the draping of the skirt. An exquisite, hand-embroidered veil and Jimmy Choo shoes complemented the simplicity of her bridal look. Later in the evening, Danielle traded her veil for a sparkling statement necklace by Jenny Packham.
The bride’s classic sensibility carried over to the floral design and styling. “I love subtle details of texture and layering,” Danielle said, “and I wanted my floral arrangements to represent this idea.” The ceremony took place in a custom designed tent illuminated by chandeliers and warm candlelight. The bride carried a lovely hand-tied bouquet of white and ivory roses, ranunculus, and orchids down an aisle accented with lush white petals. Guests looked on as the couple exchanged vows under a chuppah draped with beautiful, white-colored chiffon.
The ceremony was followed by a lavish cocktail hour. Celebrations were in full swing by now as everyone enjoyed delicious food and drinks. Afterward, guests were led to the reception in the club’s ballroom, where they were greeted by a breathtaking atmosphere.
Tables were set with a romantic showcase of centerpieces featuring a mix of white and pink cherry blossoms embellished with hanging crystals, along with tall oval shaped floral arrangements and low displays of ivory, champagne, and antique colored roses and hydrangea.
We asked Danielle if she had any favorite moments from the day. “Noah and I are a pretty private couple. At first, we weren’t going to say public vows. But we changed our minds last minute, and I am so happy we did. The moment we exchanged vows is a moment I will never forget.” She continued, “Dancing with my Dad was something I looked forward to ever since we got engaged. And the wedding speeches exceeded all my expectations – our family absolutely nailed them!”
But what Danielle cherishes most about the bridal experience as a whole was getting to work with her mom. “My mom and I planned, designed, and executed every last detail together,” said Danielle, “It doesn’t get much more special than that!”
The night closed out to the newly married couple and all their family and friends hitting the dance floor to the sounds of Bobby Attiko of Hank Lane Music. What began as a stylish, formal event ended in a non-stop dance party. And Danielle wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Congratulations, Danielle and Noah!
