Madalyn And Jon’s Dramatic Reception at Guastavino’s
Watching two people start their new life together is one of the best things about weddings. And let’s not forget about the post-ceremony celebrations! For their Guastavino’s reception, Madalyn and Jon underscored the venue’s magnificent interior with décor that was high-impact, yet sophisticated. Still, the night’s mood was joyous and full of energy with guests partying well into the late hours. Here’s the final chapter of Madalyn and Jon’s Bride & Blossom wedding story.
Part 4: Reception, Card Table, and Dance Floor
After Madalyn and Jon said “I do”, festivities got underway with a cocktail hour. “For the reception, I knew that I wanted to have the ceremony flowers suspended over the dance floor,” Madalyn says. While everyone was busy raising their glasses to the newlyweds, the Lucite chuppah was removed to reveal a gorgeous hanging floral chandelier that casted an enchanted air over the rest of the evening.
Guests were welcomed by an atmosphere that reflected the bride’s classic and modern style. A stunning card table display was marked by two tall arrangements accented by hanging bubble votives. One arrangement featured white hydrangea while the other was topped with crème vendela roses, adding volume, texture, and a hint of drama. Name cards were placed amidst a luxurious bed of flower petals.
Reception décor featured an array of various centerpieces in white with whispery notes of lavender. Some tables were adorned with low centerpieces featuring a bed of white Tibet roses in a large and low silver vase set atop a mirror platform. The second style featured large pomander balls of cream hydrangea, decorated with hanging bubble votive candles and surrounded by tea lights. The final centerpiece style presented modern crystal candelabras with tall taper candles surrounded by a four low, cube-shaped arrangements of white and lavender ranunculus, peonies, and roses. The variety of heights and textures combined with soft candlelight helped the cavernous space feel intimate and chic.
After dinner, it was time to hit the dance floor. Guests looked on with excitement as Madalyn and Jon had their first dance as newlyweds. “Dancing under the hanging roses and globes all night was truly magical,” recalls Madalyn. And judging from the photos, no one could resist taking a twirl under the spectacular floral canopy!
We asked Madalyn if she had any favorite moments from her wedding day. “Our ‘first look’ was definitely a favorite moment,” she said. “I walked down a candle-lit staircase where Jon was eagerly waiting at the bottom. Our wedding party, brothers, and parents watched and cheered from above. I remember turning around, then seeing his face light up, which truly said it all. He was at a complete loss for words!”
The evening wasn’t without a fun-filled surprise for the bride. “Another incredible moment was when my dad and Jon did a surprise guitar performance of the Grateful Dead’s “Not Fade Away” with our wedding band, which had everyone cheering. It provided the perfect opportunity for Madalyn take a spin in her beautiful Carolina Herrera gown. “I ended up dancing on stage with them!”
She concludes, “Overall, we will always remember the palpable warmth in the room due to our incredible family and friends and the many personal touches of the night that were unique to us as a couple and family.”
Congratulations Madalyn and Jon! Thank you for sharing your wedding story with us!
