Stunning Winter Beauty Looks From Top NYC Makeup Artists
Now that winter has made its frosty arrival, switching up your current make up routine is a must. Channeling the essence of the season, sparkling eye shadows, “wind kissed” cheeks, and rich lip colors not only look “natural” this time of the year, but work well on everyone.
We’ve had the pleasure of working with some incredible wedding makeup artists over the years. Watching them work their behind-the-scenes-magic so that every bride radiates walking down the aisle is one of the best perks of our job. We couldn’t think of anyone more qualified to dish advice on winter beauty than these talented ladies!

Which winter makeup look are you loving right now?
In the winter, my favorite look is a deep plum lip, sheer shimmery eye shadow, and a clean, glowing complexion. I just love the contrast of using a rich, dramatic lip color while leaving everything else super minimal. It keeps the look wearable and trendy without looking overdone.
Eyes
Pick a super sheer, very shimmery eye shadow with no liner, just mascara. Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Falling Up (1) is the perfect light champagne shade for this look, and it works beautifully on any skin tone.
Face
The key to this look is flawless skin, with a very minimal finish. Start by a applying a sheer layer of Au Naturale Zero Gravity C2P Foundation (2) all over the face, and buff it out with a soft brush. Skip the blush for this look, and instead reach for a subtle highlight/contour palette. The Sculpt and Glow Contour Duo from Lily Lolo gives a gorgeous, understated glow to the high points of the face, and softly enhances natural contours.
Lips
The star of this show is definitely the bold lip. Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick in Aubergine from 100 Percent Pure (3) has a rich, velvety finish that lasts for hours, and the decadent deep plum shade is nothing short of stunning. A precise application is essential here, so be sure to use a great applicator like Jane Iredale’s Retractable Lip Brush.

Which winter makeup look are you loving right now?
I am loving a monochrome look during the winter season. It’s important to keep the look fresh and functional – adding a little flush to the lips and cheeks gives you an “Après Ski” glow.
Eyes
Keep eyes bright with a light colored shadow. A very small amount of shimmer can dress up the look for evening, but try and keep the lids matte during the day. We love MAC eye shadow in Brulé (1).
Face
Be sure to slough off any dry skin before you apply face cream, which helps your skin absorb the product and remain hydrated. Use a tinted moisturizer (2) to even your skin tone and apply any cover up where needed. Melt a bit of cream blush (pinkish-red hue) on the apples of your cheeks, or directly where you naturally flush. Then sweep a tiny bit of bronzer anywhere the face jets out a bit, such as the nose, chin, and forehead for some warmth.
Lips
Use the same cream blush (yes!) on your lips. We love ‘Ski Bunny’ by Three Custom Color (3) for this look. It is incredibly versatile and the color is just enough to look fresh but not too made up. Do not line lip. Instead, use your finger to dab the product on so it smudges a bit and creates blurry lines. This will give a freshly “bitten” lip look.
You are not alone if your current internal thoughts have the saying ‘New Year, New You’ on repeat. Heading into 2019, many of us are craving change. What we love about the winter beauty inspiration that Lucy and Katherine shared is that these looks are not only fresh and gorgeous, but you don’t need years of training to create them. And we can totally see them being worn down the winter wedding season!
