Heather & Amos: ‘In Full Bloom’ At The William Vale
When Heather first met Amos the Thursday before Memorial Day in 2008, she knew there was something special about him. “I work in the spirits industry and was doing a tasting in the Hamptons during the holiday weekend. I told him that in order for us to have a first date, he would have to get himself a hotel room out there. Finding a hotel in the Hamptons around Memorial Day is near impossible, especially on such short notice. But, somehow, he did it! That really gave me insight into the kind of person Amos is.”
We are excited to introduce Heather, our Bride & Blossom Featured Bride for August. Heather & Amos exchanged vows on an unforgettable day at the William Vale. Here, she shares the first part of their Real BB Wedding Story.
Part 1: Proposal & Planning
Heather looks back on that whirlwind weekend and says, “People ask, ‘When did you know?’ Honestly, from the beginning. The fact that someone I just met would put in that time and effort made me think this is a person that I definitely want to get to know more.” Each year, the couple returned to Sag Harbor, where they had their first date, to celebrate their anniversary.
Driving back from Heather’s cousin’s wedding in Canada, the couple planned to do some wine tasting in the Finger Lakes. The date was May 22, 2018 – exactly ten years after their first meeting. While taking a post-lunch stroll through the vineyard at Glenora Wine Cellars, Amos asked Heather to marry him. She says with a laugh, “I thought that if there was a time, it would be then. But because he left his bag unattended so many times in Canada, and in the trunk of the car at Glenora, I never imagined anything of value could be in it!”
As they started looking at venues, Heather and Amos knew they wanted a place that felt modern, was on the water, and would accommodate a rooftop ceremony. “We spend a lot of time in Miami, and initially wanted to get married there. But my family is from Grenada, and Amos is from Israel. And then there are our friends from New York. In addition to making everyone travel, the thought of working long-distance with vendors wasn’t ideal.”
They decided to keep it local. “We looked at few venues, but nothing was checking off those boxes like Miami. Then one day we decided to have brunch at the William Vale. Sitting there enjoying our meal on the rooftop while taking in the views of the water and the Manhattan skyline… everything was so perfect.”
Nestled in the heart of Williamsburg, the William Vale exudes modern luxury in its architectural design, décor, world-class cuisine, and hospitality. “Honestly, we consider ourselves Manhattanites and never saw us getting married in Brooklyn,” says Heather. “But the William Vale really spoke to who we are as a couple. You could say Brooklyn became our idea of a destination wedding!”
It’s not often that the groom has as much say, in this case more, in floral décor as the bride. “Amos made it very clear from the beginning – our wedding was going to be all about flowers. They were truly everything for him and he wanted our venue to be completely transformed.” As the couple started choosing key components like invitations, stationary, and attire, they noticed everything was inspired by flowers in some way. Heather recalls, “And at that point, we realized we were ‘In Full Bloom,’ which became the theme for our wedding.”
