BB Featured Bride Laura On Her Stunning Oscar de la Renta Dress
For this month’s BB Featured Bride Laura, it was love at first sight. “I picked out my wedding dress six months before I was even engaged,” she says with a laugh. “I saw the dress online during New York Bridal Fashion week and immediately knew it was the one for me.” Here, Laura talks about her stunning Oscar de la Renta gown and personals.
Part 2: Wedding Dress and Personals
Laura’s ‘say yes to the dress’ story is the kind we all hope for. After becoming officially engaged, she made an appointment to try on the Oscar de la Renta dress she had been dreaming about for the past year and half. “It was even better in person,” she exclaims. “I tried on a few more options just to do my due diligence, but nothing compared. The dress and all the fittings that followed were by far the easiest and most fun parts of wedding planning!”
Laura’s breathtaking choice featured a fit and flare silhouette with all-over floral lace. The gown’s neckline was adorned with exquisite leaf appliqué, which cascaded down through the waist, giving way to a delicate, flowing skirt. Adding a touch of glitz to her bridal attire, she accessorized with crystal embellished lace up Jimmy Choo heels.
Originally, Laura didn’t plan to wear any special jewelry. “I was actually just going to wear costume earrings,” she says. “About a few weeks before the wedding, I went home to see my parents in Connecticut. My mom picked me up from the train and said ‘I have a surprise for you.’ She then took me to a jeweler and bought me the most gorgeous pair of earrings.” Laura continues, “She just wanted me to have something meaningful to wear at my wedding and eventually give to my daughter someday. We were married in July and I have yet to take them off.” Laura’s mom wasn’t the only one concerned about her accessories. “Charlie wanted to make sure that I had a gift to open on our wedding day. When I checked into my bridal suite, he had a beautiful diamond bracelet waiting for me. I am still wearing it as well.”
The bride complemented her elegant style with a romantic bouquet of ivory and white flowers accented with light greenery. The arrangement featured lush roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, freesia, seeded eucalyptus, and olive greenery tied together with a satin ribbon.
Laura could write a book on how to keep your cool, literally, when weather is a factor. “We got married on the hottest day of the year with record breaking temperatures.” The week leading up to her wedding, she tried to stay calm, but was understandably worried about taking photos. “Our photographer, Nella, from Christian Oth Studio was amazing. She had scouted potential locations to do our first look, ultimately deciding that we should do it at Grand Central because of the heat.” The anticipation leading up to the moment could not have been more picture-perfect. Laura looks back and says, “Turning the corner and seeing Charlie’s back as I walked down the long pathway to meet him… the feeling was incredible.”
Stay tuned for next week in Part 3 when Laura talks about exchanging vows under a beautiful chuppah surrounded by family and friends.
