A Look Back At The Real BB Weddings Of 2022
To say that 2022 has been an unprecedented year for weddings would be an understatement. It was predicted that more couples would say “I Do” in 2022 than in any other year since 1984. While exact numbers aren’t in yet, our sense is that we’re close to hitting the mark. As wedding florists, we saw firsthand how getting married in a post-pandemic moment influenced our clients’ decisions. Perhaps it had to do with the slowing down and reflection that happened during 2020-2021, but couples were more willing than ever before to take risks and be creative when it came to flowers and decor, attire, food, and entertainment. Expectations about everything being ‘perfect’ gave way to being fully present during this once-in-a-lifetime event. While many of the weddings we are about to highlight look spectacular on an aesthetic level, upon further inspection, you will see that they are speckled with unique and meaningful details that are a sincere expression of the couple’s love and personality. Please join us as we look back at the Real BB Weddings of 2022.
Exuberant Blossoms at New York Botanical Garden
When planning for a late spring wedding at the New York Botanical Garden, it’s impossible to not be swayed by the abundant blooms that take over the grounds during the season. For their outdoor nuptials at the venue’s Stone Mill, Alexandra and Alexander exchanged vows under a flourishing chuppah composed of jewel-tone roses, delphiniums, oncidium orchids, tweedia, stock, larkspur, and amaranthus complemented by verdant greenery. The ‘living’ wildflower theme carried over to the reception where the couple celebrated at their sweetheart table topped with bud vase arrangements of vibrant daisies, poppies, freesias, eremurus, roses, stock, and delphiniums.
Ethereal Drama at Gotham Hall
We love contrast, so designing for Samantha and Ryan’s ethereal wedding at Gotham Hall, a venue known for its grand and dramatic atmosphere, was an absolute delight for us. The couple’s ceremony centered on a stunning crescent moon arch composed of roses, carnations, lisianthus, dendrobium orchids, dahlias, carnations, and baby’s breath in shades of ivory, white, cream, and taupe. Keeping with the romantic and airy floral vibe, the couple’s reception took shape in a dynamic series of high and low arrangements of neutral hued blossoms accentuated by candlelight.
Autumnal Bliss at Tribeca Rooftop
It’s well-known among wedding professionals that one of the most romantic times to get married in New York City is during Autumn just as the leaves begin to turn and the sky takes on a warm, magical glow. Katie and Ryan’s big day at Tribeca Rooftop was evidence of this fact from start to finish. With the breathtaking city skyline in the background, the couple exchanged vows before a stunning gold archway trimmed with roses, ranunculuses, dahlias, lisianthus, stock, and delphiniums in seasonal hues of burgundy, yellow, plum, berry, orange, white, and ivory. Their reception took place over a tablescape punctuated by towering harlow stand centerpieces topped with lush florals complemented by elegant taper candles.
A Classic Downtown Affair At The Bowery Hotel
Alexis and Danny’s wedding at The Bowery Hotel was the epitome of timeless sophistication with downtown flair. The couple exchanged vows before the hotel’s stunning emerald tile fireplace, which was decorated with white florals and greenery complemented by pillar candles. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and guests sat down to an intimate tablescape adorned with garland and centerpieces featuring crisp blanca and spray roses, stock, white campanulas, and greenery illuminated by taper and floating candles.
Modern Romance At Maritime Parc
One of our first weddings of 2022 was Carliah and Chris’s modern affair at Maritime Parc in New Jersey. The couple married before a backdrop composed of asymmetrical, blossoming arrangements, which brought a sense of lyrical movement to the raw and open space. The couple’s reception decor was expressed in high and low centerpieces featuring roses, lisianthus, stock, hydrangeas, and calla lilies in romantic shades of pale lavender, cream, ivory, and white highlighted by floating candles.
A Chic Brooklyn Rooftop Wedding at The William Vale
You wouldn’t believe how many couples tell us that a little rain, though unexpected and stressful at first, only added to the emotion and beauty they felt on their wedding day. This seemed to be the case for Doris and James when they exchanged vows under a classic white floral archway in an atmospheric, sky-high ceremony at the William Vale in October. The celebration moved inside to the ballroom where the newlyweds and guests dined at an intimate tablescape set with arrangements of white roses, hydrangeas, stock, dahlias, lisianthus, and dendrobrium orchids accentuated by glowing candles.
An Amalfi Coast Inspired Celebration at Liberty Warehouse
We love to see couples like BB Featured Bride Caroline and Ben incorporate their style and cultural heritage into their wedding design. “Because the Liberty Warehouse’s interior is like a blank canvas, I definitely wanted there to be a theme. Ben is Jewish so we knew we were going to have a Jewish ceremony. I’m Italian and to make my side of the family feel welcome, we incorporated a bright color palette – I love coral – and details such as citrus fruit, which gave the impression of being on the Amalfi Coast,” Caroline says. The couple wrote their own vows, exchanging those heartfelt words under a breathtaking chuppah featuring lush greenery embellished with various roses, ranunculuses, tulips, stock, and dendrobium orchids in shades of pink, peach, orange, yellow, and white trimmed with lemons, oranges, and heirloom keepsakes that belonged to loved ones who had passed away. Detail-rich reception décor featured an array of centerpieces punctuated by candlelit and vibrant blooms in combination with blue and white floral linens, blue glassware, and patterned chargers, which underscored the romantic, Old-World atmosphere.
Romantic Elegance at The Weylin
Tamara and Dan’s wedding marked our first event at The Weylin, a stunning venue space located in a historic Brooklyn building, which was formerly the iconic Williamsburgh Savings Bank. Taking place in the main dome, the couple’s ceremony focused on a gardesque chuppah featuring lush greenery adorned with roses, calla lilies, delphiniums, dendrobrium orchids, snapdragons, ranunculuses, and thistle in a romantic palette of lavender, soft blue, white and ivory. While guests toasted the newlyweds during cocktail hour, the room changed over for the reception where everyone dined at tables decorated with elegant centerpieces featuring peonies, daisies, Phalaenopsis orchids, roses, mini calla lilies, stock, ranunculuses, tweedia, and greenery under candlelight.
Cherry Blossom Enchantment at Guastavino’s
What’s remarkable about iconic venues such as Guastavino’s is that despite being a distinctive and historic space, it accommodates just about any style of special day flowers. Elegant enchantment was the theme for Brooke and Scott’s wedding which began under a jaw-dropping chuppah made of pink cherry blossoms branches. The modern fairytale atmosphere continued through the reception, which was laid out in soaring spay-like centerpieces, which had guests feeling like they were walking through a cherry blossom festival at peak bloom.
Artistic + Bold Beauty at The Metropolitan Club
Then there are venues so entrenched in New York City’s illuminated past, they make the idea of decorating its regal ballrooms with daring and bold decor unthinkable. A dazzling spectacle from start to finish, Hannah and Brad’s wedding at The Metropolitan Club proved that just because a building has an austere facade with a plaque outside, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with high-drama and lavish color inside. The couple exchanged vows under a show-stopping gold chuppah adorned with dendrobrium orchids, roses, delphiniums, calla lilies, dahlias, and amaranthas in bright hues of magenta, red, burgundy, berry. and rich pink. The artistic display carried over to the reception, which featured captivating centerpieces of roses and Phalaenopsis and dendrobium orchids paired with pillar candles set atop statuesque crystal hurricane holders.
