Meet Our Design Team

We are so fortunate here at Bride & Blossom to have so many incredibly talented and creative designers working as part of our B&B family.  Our designers come to us with diverse skill sets and experiences, and we assign arrangements based on their strengths, to best execute each client’s unique vision and bring their proposals to life. We chatted with three of our talented team members  about how they got into the industry, what a typical day at the studio entails, and what it takes to be an extraordinary floral designer.

B&B Design Team Dawn

How did you get into floral design? Why were you attracted to it?

I was a beauty school drop out, for real! I took Cosmetology in a Vocational High School and hated it. But I did fall in love with the Horticulture Program – and that is how I “blossomed” out into flowers. I was attracted to the freedom of it. I liked the way the flowers smelled and the way you could make them look so interesting and pretty. I liked that they brought others so much joy.

Kate’s bright and beautiful bridal bouquet, composed of peach, coral, and blush roses with white calla lilies, can’t help but bring a smile to our faces!  The cool white lilies and natural greenery help to gracefully merge the trio of warm tones and really bring this bouquet to life.  We love how the colors pop next to her dress and pair perfectly with the lush Battery Gardens background.

The Bride Carried White : Unlocking the All-White Bridal Bouquet

While some brides may dismiss the idea of an all-white bouquet as generic or forgettable, in truth, there are so many ways to express your unique personal style in all-white. The absence of color unlocks a focus on texture, composition, and tone that goes to show sometimes less really is more. “No matter what the flower or style, white bouquets always look beautiful and chic,” says our Creative Director Lindsay Saltz, “As Da Vinci once said, ‘Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.'”

Here at Bride & Blossom, we’ve worked with dozens of brides seeking all-white bouquets, from vintage to modern, clean to complex.  But no matter the design, a white bouquet is a timeless choice, rich with tradition and symbolic of the bride’s entrance into a fresh, new chapter of her life.

Fall in Love : Designing the Perfect Autumn Wedding

It’s that time of year again, when the air turns cool & crisp, and the leaves light up with fantastic warm shades.  Fall is the most popular season for weddings, and with good reason. “Fall is when mother nature is showing off!” says Creative Director Lindsay Saltz, “and the fall foliage serves as a perfect design backdrop.”

We’ve found that a lot of clients don’t want to necessarily play into the classic fall colors – and we don’t blame them. While orange, red, yellow, and caramel can bring festive warmth to your color scheme, there are some great alternatives that will really play up the seasonal backdrop while keeping your colors modern and unique.

World-renowned cake maker and a master in the art of decorative sugar, Ron Ben-Israel was aptly dubbed “the Manolo Blahnik of wedding cakes” by the New York Times in 2014.

After serving in the Israeli military and touring the world as a professional modern dancer, Ron began baking; a pursuit inspired by his Viennese mother, who passed on a fascination with the discipline and chemistry of cake construction.  He was discovered by Martha Stewart in 1995, when she was drawn to one of his cakes in a bakery store window. Stewart was starting a wedding magazine at the time and called Ron in to meet her, encouraging him to start his own business.
