BB Featured Bride Christina Stuns In An Enchanted Eve Of Milady Wedding Dress
For most women, choosing their wedding dress is a daunting chore involving endless scrolls on Instagram and Pinterest, appointments, and fittings. Thankfully, BB Featured Bride Christina had a Disney heroine to guide her through the process. Having chosen a sophisticated ‘Beauty and the Beast’ theme for her big day, she wanted a look that captured the majesty and romance of her favorite fairytale. “I was ‘best friends’ with Belle when Ben and I met,” the bride recalls. “So I wanted my dress to allude to hers.” Here, Christina talks about her enchanted Eve of Milady ball gown and personals.
Part 2: Dress & Personals
Christina’s ‘say yes to the dress’ story is the kind we all hope for. Joined by her other best friend, her mom, Christina visited Bridal Reflections in Manhattan for an appointment. “Like everyone else, when I first became engaged, I saved what felt like well over one hundred Instagram posts of dresses that I liked, eventually setting my heart on one in particular,” she remembers. The day of Christina’s appointment, the designer of the dress was having a trunk show at Bridal Reflections. “I tried the dress on and realized that it was a little too revealing up top for a Catholic ceremony,” she says with a laugh.
The salesperson working with Christina suggested she look at the bridal label, Eve of Milady. “I had explained to her that I was looking for something that was elegant with a hint of sparkle, demure with a dash of sexiness. She showed me the first dress and I remember thinking ‘well, this could work.’” Once Christina put the dress on, she knew her search was over. She looks back at that moment and says, “I gasped, ‘This is the one.’ When I walked out of the dressing room, my mom started crying.”
“As a performer, you wear a lot of elaborate costumes – part of your job is knowing what looks good on you.” The bride continues, “I was very fortunate in this sense – it wasn’t like I went in wanting a mermaid style and ended up with something completely different.” Christina’s breathtaking choice featured an enchanted ball gown silhouette with allover floral lace and sparkling accents, an embroidered bodice, and delicate off-the-shoulder straps. “The details on my dress actually informed our florals,” she adds. “I knew that I wanted to have that same whimsical, romantic feel throughout our décor as well.” Completing her fairytale inspired ensemble, Christina accessorized with a Swarovski crystal and pearl crown by Maria Elena Headpieces, Galia Lahav veil, and Jimmy Choo heels.
For her bouquet, Christina drew inspiration from another iconic royal bride. “I was really inspired by Kate Middleton. Her bouquet with Lily of the Valley was so beautiful. When we reached out to Bride & Blossom, we had already picked our date, May 1st which is also celebrated as May Day. Lily of the Valley is the official flower for May. There is an old French tradition that on the first of the month, people would give sprigs of Lily of the Valley to friends and family for good luck. If they couldn’t do it in person, they would send a card picturing the flower to a loved one as a token of affection.” Upon learning about the symbolism and history behind the bloom, Christina knew it was perfect for her. She carried a petite arrangement of Lilly of the Valley, hyacinth, and stephanotis wrapped with ivory satin ribbon.
Ben stepped into his role of dashing prince with ease. The groom wore a black tux with a white lisianthus boutonniere pinned at the lapel. The couple’s wedding party played their parts flawlessly – the bridesmaids wore pale blue with white floral appliqué dresses while the groomsmen donned classic black attire.
Stay tuned for next week when Christina talks about her and Ben’s meaningful church ceremony.
