Dayna & Matthew Exchange Vows In A Gorgeous Oceanside Ceremony
The unmatched allure of Gurney’s Montauk is the picturesque beach setting, which offers a breathtaking backdrop for saying “I Do.” From their first vacation as a couple in Puerto Rico to getting engaged in Miami, Dayna and Matthew shared their most special moments together near the water. “Gurney’s was our dream spot for getting married,” Dayna says. Here she talks about her and Matthew’s unforgettable oceanside ceremony.
Part 3: Ceremony
The moon gate ceremony arch is undeniably beautiful for many reasons. Its unique shape offers a myriad of possibilities for floral décor and styling. Symbolically, the circle represents unending love, unity, and protection. While the moon gate floods wedding blogs, Pinterest, and Instagram feeds, we have created only a few round designs for our Real BB Weddings. When Dayna proposed the idea in our meeting, we were very excited and couldn’t wait to start working on bringing her vision to life.
The couple first came across the idea during one of their happy hour wedding planning sessions. “Knowing that we were not going to do a runner or any aisle décor, Matthew and I wanted the arch to be the focal point of our ceremony and really stand out,” Dayna says. Upon first seeing the moon gate, they were immediately drawn to the geometric shape. By this point, they had decided to include geometric motifs as part of the overall aesthetic theme. Dayna continues, “We were already planning a non-traditional ceremony. The circle felt modern and cool, yet somewhat classic while giving us room to be creative.”
The picturesque ocean view was also a factor in considering the final design. “We crossed our fingers, hoping that the weather would hold out so we could get married outside on the deck overlooking the ocean,” Dayna recalls. “We decided to do a three-quarter moon with the flowers at the bottom so the water could still be seen in the background.”
A hush overtook wedding guests as Dayna, escorted by her father, stepped to the aisle in her stunning Pnina Tornai dress. She met Matthew before a vibrant structure that pulsated in every color of the rainbow. The jaw-dropping design featured roses, ranunculus, delphiniums, marigolds, hydrangeas, and stock in bold hues of purple, fuchsia, blue, yellow, orange, pink, coral, and white with olive branches, Italian ruscus, and silver dollar eucalyptus.
As Dayna and Matthew exchanged vows and shared their first kiss as newlyweds, it was clear they had created a day that was a true reflection of their love and laidback personality. “Even the songs that played during our ceremony had special meaning. We selected upbeat songs that everyone knew and could sing along to. ‘God Only Knows’ by the Beach Boys played during the Family and Bridal Party Professional, and The Beatles’ ‘All You Need Is Love’ and ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’ accompanied the Bridal Professional and Recessional. They are lifetime favorites of ours! Matthew and I wanted to create a celebratory/party atmosphere for our wedding as early as possible and this was a really fun way to do it!”
Stay tuned next week for Part 4 when Dayna shares all the details from the couple’s fun-filled reception.
