Five Romantic New Movies for Valentine’s Day
Whether Valentine’s Day means date night, cozy time together at home, or dreams of finding true love, we are all in the mood for romantic movies. If you’re looking for something sweeter than the film currently dominating the media, check these out in theaters and streaming online:
Old Fashioned
“Love is patient… love is kind…” Those perennial wedding-reading words from Corinthians are the tagline for a film about slow courtship and the healing power of love. This one looks really sweet.
Love, Rosie
A big hit in Europe, this British film about best friends falling in love with each other is set to charm American audiences this Valentines day.
The Last Five Years
Starring Anna Kendrick from Pitch Perfect, this musical about an on-again, off-again relationship was adapted from an off-Broadway play by Jason Robert Brown. This love story is told almost all in song and moves backwards and forwards through time, to show a relationship from two perspectives. I’m rooting for a happy ending after just watching the trailer.
Love Me
Consider this one a wild card. A compelling documentary about lonely men looking for Russian “mail-order” brides, and the complex women behind glossy online profiles, this is a window into real human hearts and the universal desire for love.
Song One
Anne Hathaway plays a young woman retracing her brother’s steps after a tragic accident. Looks like she finds love along the way. All I can say is that tears came to my eyes during the trailer. Twice.
