Nicole & Matt Ring in the New Year with An Enchanted Reception
For Nicole and Matt, hosting their wedding on the biggest party night of year proved to be one of the best decisions they could have made. And while the invitation suggested ‘black tie,’ the couple wanted to ring in the New Year with a fun-filled reception. Here, Nicole shares the final chapter in her Real BB Wedding story.
Part 4: Reception, Floral Arch, and Tablescape
The entry way to the Nicole and Matt’s reception was marked by an enchanted floral arch of lush, vibrant florals and greenery followed by wine barrels topped with organic arrangements and glowing candles. The décor had a romantic, English garden feel and looked amazing against Houston Hall’s rustic interior. After settling in for cocktail hour, guests raised the first of many toasts to the newlyweds.
Long, communal style tables filled out the room, creating an inviting and cozy setting. Simple yet eye-catching, décor featured an eclectic mix of bud vases holding peonies, roses, calla lilies, ranunculus, anemones, and privet berries complemented by eucalyptus and gold painted salal leaves. Enhanced by glowing candlelight and twinkling accents, the arrangements came alive, appearing to dance across the tablescape. A second style displayed a series of rectangular and cube vases filled with colorful, full-bodied blooms.
Bride & Blossom’s Rachel Trimarco remarks on working with the couple. “Nicole and Matt were a pleasure. This was our first ever New Year’s Eve wedding and it was magical to see everything come together. What a wonderful way to welcome the year by celebrating such a special occasion with the ones you love the most! Houston Hall is a very unique venue with an old New York industrial vibe. We chose a moody palette to play against the distressed wood and industrial elements.”
From the venue and flowers to the personalized vows and dessert catered by Doughnut Plant, Nicole and Matt’s wedding was exactly how they envisioned it. “Even our music was an aspect we gave a lot of thought to. We had a DJ with live musicians and our first dance was to a Paloma Faith’s cover of ‘Feel the Love’ by Rudimental.” A tailored playlist along with the constant flow of champagne and sparklers had everyone on their feet long after the clock struck midnight.
For any readers dreading the wedding planning process, Nicole leaves some parting words of comfort. “Yes, planning for a wedding is stressful. But there were also many special moments leading up to the day of. I’ll always remember going to City Hall with Matt to get our marriage license. And just figuring everything out together… it was a very bonding experience.
Congratulations, Nicole & Matt! Thank you for sharing your Real BB Wedding Story with us!
