While many couples choose to have their ceremony and reception at the same venue, Christina and Ben chose a more traditional setting to exchange their vows – the Church of Our Saviour. BB Featured Bride Christina reflects back on this part of her wedding and says, ‘it was really special because this is the church where Ben and I go every Sunday for mass.” In fact, after the couple became engaged, Ben decided to convert to Christina’s faith of Catholicism. “He actually received his confirmation and first communion there,” she says. “And we had the same priest, Monsignor Sullivan, who confirmed Ben marry us.”  This week, we look back at how the couple blended tradition with personal meaning on their wedding day.

Many of us can attest that our first impressions of romance came from the fantastical animated films by Disney. But very few can say that Disney played a direct role in finding their true love. Christina and Ben both have acting backgrounds and met while working as performers for Disney Cruise Lines. Getting into character day in, day out in such close quarters, close bonds with colleagues inevitably form. Starting to navigate the waters of being social again, we look forward to parties with excitement and gratitude. And for a bride-to-be, finally being able to celebrate her upcoming marriage with her closest friends is not only fun, but also relieves the stress of wedding planning (which most likely involved the added headache of rescheduled dates and modified visions). The establishment of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden over a century ago paralleled the modern development of New York City. As skyscrapers, paved streets, and bridges grew like weeds, it was nearly impossible to find a soft spread of grass or blooming flower garden. Not much has changed to the concrete jungle that has come to define the cityscape. And thankfully, not much has changed to Brooklyn Botanic Garden since opening in 1911. It continues to be a designated green public space where people can come and get lost in the mesmerizing splendor of nature. It is no wonder then that the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is an in-demand venue for couples planning their wedding in New York City.

The beach is where it all began for Bride & Blossom. It was Founder Rachel Trimarco’s waterside nuptials that planted the seed, which would eventually grow into a luxury floral design & styling boutique. Rachel visualized the floral landscape for her own wedding. On the morning of, a-bride-to-be walked through the venue and liked the flowers so much that she requested contact information for the florist. That bride became Rachel’s first client.

In the past twelve years since then, the sense of joy and excitement felt as summer begins and weddings head to venues lined with sandy beaches and picturesque seascape views is just as strong. After a year and a half of pandemic lockdown that greatly impacted how we gather and celebrate lifetime events, we are especially looking forward to this upcoming season. In addition to the breathtaking setting, what makes beach venues in the New York City area so alluring is that they offer the look and feel of a destination wedding without all the added planning, stress, and expenses.
