Planning Events Is So Exciting!

While planning your engagement party, bridal shower, or wedding, keep in mind that some of your guests may have allergic reactions to the pollen or fragrance of certain flowers. Fear not, for the flowers that are the worst offenders are not used very often in wedding arrangements! The worst flowers for allergy sufferers are chamomile, chrysanthemums, daisies, goldenrods and ordinary sunflowers. Here’s a great website that can provide you with more information on flowers that are ok to use.

The True Story of Valentine’s Day…

Did you know that Valentine’s Day dates back to the time of the Roman Empire during the reign of Claudius II, 270 A.D. Claudius didn’t want men to marry during wartime because he believed single men made better soldiers. Bishop Valentine went against his wishes and performed secret wedding ceremonies. For this, Valentine was jailed and then executed by order of the Emperor on Feb. 14. While in jail, he wrote a love note to the jailor’s daughter, signing it, “From your Valentine.” Sound familiar?

Check out some of our favorite Valentine’s Day arrangements.

Adding a Little Sparkle to Your Bouquet

Here are two ways of adding some sparkle or “bling” to your bouquet, just enough to enhance the flowers and add a refined elegant look without going over the top!

Gorgeous Gown and Bouquet

I’m loving this gown. One of our recent brides wore it and the bouquet we created for her complements it perfectly. The flowers and crystals on the gown are so elegant. The bouquet is soft, romantic and traditional with a combination of Roses, Calla Lilies and Peonies. We even added in some Swarvoski crystals to match with the gown.

A wedding by the sea

This weekend we did a gorgeous wedding by the ocean in NY’s famed Coney Island beach. What a perfect day to get married and take ocean front pictures! The sun was shining and the ceremony was held in the venue’s outdoor area complete with a romantic gazebo. The bride chose a combination of whites, creams, soft pinks and a touch of hot pink for her decor. My favorite part of the decor was her sweetheart table arrangement. We paired a stunning crystal candelabra with draped Swarvoski crystal strands with a bed of flowers around the base. On the sides of the table we used soft pink cherry blossom branches. This sweetheart table really popped! No one could miss this bride.

Wedding Day Glow

After last year’s cold and rainy summer we deserved all the sun we’ve enjoyed so far this year. With less than a month before Labor Day, fall brides should start pampering their sun kissed skin. For that wedding day glow schedule a monthly deep cleansing facial or for those on a budget you can do it yourself or have a spa party at home. About a week before the big day go in for your pre-wedding facial but make sure to give your skin enough time to heal if you’re prone to redness or breakouts. For that radiance that screams bride get an oxygen mask or spray the day before. You’ll be sure to get many compliments on your skin.
