One beautiful way to work with a strong, striking shade is to use unusual blossoms while keeping the color scheme very simple. In this wedding, we used an abundance of bright yellow orchids for the bridesmaids’ bouquets, miniature yellow calla lilies for the groomsmen, and for the adorable flower girl, we made a perfectly round bouquet of yellow mums. Pop! Balloon Magic for Your Wedding Design

When you think of the different kinds of parties you have been to in the Tri-State Area (or even elsewhere), you may associate balloons with carnivals, clowns, and peewee birthday parties, certainly not weddings. You wouldn’t be wrong, but you would be missing out on what balloons can do for the more grown-up affairs. With the right design, placement, and color scheme, balloons bring elegance, charm and sophistication. It is true! Here are four creative ways to add a majestic air to your wedding, with these festive, ethereal orbs.

For Sophistication, it is all about color. Or, even, absence of color. Stick with lighter, more pastel colors or whites and clears. Our brains register paler and fainter hues as calming, whereas brighter hues register as more exciting, but in the case of balloons, more carnival-like. This is especially true for pale pinks versus bright reds. The only exception to this may be blues, however. The brain sees most blues as calming, so if you opt for solely darker or more vivid blues, be aware that these tones can drag the mood down. The Sweetheart = The One I Love

I love every single floral arrangement we do at Bride & Blossom. If someone asked me to pick my favorite flower, or color, I would have a very hard time. The same goes for the styles of our centerpieces. That said, I do hold a special place in my heart for certain designs.Right now I am really loving the sweetheart table centerpiece style. No other centerpiece style can really compare with the bold lushness of this particular arrangement. A sweetheart table, in case you did not know, is, as The Knot says,

A sweetheart table is a small table set up for just the bride and groom at the wedding reception. The happy couple sits together, facing their guests, with their wedding attendants and families at tables in close proximity. The advantage is that you get to spend time together and enable your wedding party to sit with family and friends. If you’re not comfortable with being the focal point at the wedding reception, you can have a head table. Your head table can be similar to the other reception tables or it can be a dais table (elevated), to stand out. The head table can consist of all the wedding attendants or include the parents, siblings, grandparents and anyone else who is very close to the bride and groom.

The flowers you pick for your bouquet and centerpieces reflect your thoughtfulness, personal tastes, and the artistry and ambience you would like share with your many special others on this day. Every little detail matters, from the shape of the petals, to the length of the stalks, to the size of blooms. And let us not forget the colors; that’s usually where the dreaming starts!

But what about the ribbons? How you wrap the bouquet translate into how it will look in the hands of others, how it will feel, whether it is feather-light and clutchable. Most of the time we come into contact with ribbons and only give them much thought when we are wrapping presents. And, unless we are in a kind of business (like a bakery or gift shop), where wrapping with elegant ribbon-work is part of the mainstay, we do not give the idea of ribbons too much thought. Read More

What I Love About Chuppahs

When I designed my first Chuppah, I loved the unique opportunity this was to create a sacred place of love and unity. Not being Jewish, this was not a tradition I was familiar with, so designing it was also a wonderfully eye-opening cultural experience. Naturally I love celebrations, but I have a special place in my heart for all things wedding.

In case you do not know, the Chuppah is featured at traditional Jewish weddings. According to Chabad.org,

The chuppah is a tapestry attached to the tops of four poles. The word chuppah means covering or protection, and is intended as a roof or covering for the bride and groom at their wedding.
