Ashley Woodson Bailey's Floral Photography

image

Artist Ashley Woodson Bailey is an inspiration. Ashley worked as a floral designer for twenty years, until her life changed in an instant. From Ashley’s website:

A self-taught photographer, Ashley sought to create a lasting flower arrangement through the lens of a camera after a life-changing accident in 2012 left her physically unable to create for large-scale events. As an artist, Ashley is defined fully and completely by the flower. Her collection “Dark” is inspired by the transition of the flower from a lovely blossom to a dying stem and the deep desire to preserve that metamorphosis as a moment in time.

The above photograph, of amaryllis, peonies, roses and bush ivy, is titled Dutch Love. Ashley says it was inspired by, “…my love for the Dutch Masters’ amazing ability to paint blooms.” Prints can be ordered in a variety of sizes, framed or unframed. Astoundingly, Ashley uses her iPhone to capture and edit these images. Read More

Signature Cocktails With Spice & Sparkle

imageWelcome guests to your wedding reception with a festive signature cocktail that embodies fall’s bright spirit. Signature drinks need not be fussy to make an impression. Standout recipes are often inspired twists on familiar classics. Take for example, the Pinterest-popular Apple Cider Bellini, a combination of cider, sparkling wine or champagne, plus a touch of fig or pomegranate liquor. Attracted to the concept of signature cocktails but not sure how to choose a drink that will please your crowd? Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Consider Color: If your bridesmaids will wear plum and your bouquet and centerpieces will include purple orchids and lavender roses, champagne cocktails, created with crème de cassis blackcurrent liquor will perfectly coordinate.

Embellished Bouquets for Extra Sparkle

Bouquet bling

Flowers bring beauty, freshness and wonder to weddings. How flowers are presented can express creativity, mood, and the personality of the bride. This is why we love to design wedding flowers. Using some of nature’s most incredible creations to enhance and communicate the spirit of love and celebration never gets old because every bride and every wedding is unique.

Brides planning a rustic wedding may dream of carrying flowers that feel as if they were just gathered from a field. Natural-looking bouquets incorporating leafy stems and wildflowers are charming with simple, gauzy gowns and hair worn in loose waves or braids.

For formal affairs, many brides choose a more structured bouquet. Symmetrical compositions and understated wraps show off the beauty of impeccable blossoms and look perfect carried by brides wearing chic updos, classic jewelry and elegant gowns.
