The weddings we remember most are those that are a true expression of a couple’s love and personality. Allison and Josh let guests know that nuptials were going to be uniquely genuine before a ceremony program was handed out or centerpiece was put on display. “We had our welcome dinner at Shun Lee West the night before,” Allison says. “We tried to weave in both of our backgrounds.” A nod to the bride’s Chinese heritage and groom’s Jewish faith continued through the festive, multi-cultural reception. For those who have dreamed of their wedding since childhood, first thoughts about all the beauty and flourish they will incorporate to make the day extraordinary often center around what they will wear. “Growing up, the extent of my wedding fantasy started and ended with the dress,” BB Featured Bride Allison says. “The groom and everything else just seemed like minor details.” In addition to the preliminary years of conceptualizing, Allison arrived to her first appointment at Kleinfeld with “6 months of online shopping under my belt.” What happened next sounds more like a perfectly executed scene from a classic Hollywood movie starring Audrey Hepburn as the bride-to-be than real life. In the age of dating apps, so many things need to be in sync for two people to hit it off on the first meeting. Past experiences and expectations are significant factors in this type of situation and both individuals may not be on the same page. Time, in some cases, however, works out the kinks of matchmaking. Allison recalls her first date with Josh. “We initially connected in 2017 on Hinge. I had just been on a great first date when he re-emerged. Something told me to give him another chance. It’s part of our story, though a part we kept from our families until it was revealed at our wedding,” she says with a laugh.

It was just our vibe – the venue had everything we imagined for a dream wedding.” This week, BB Featured Bride Joye reminisces on her breathtaking sky-high ceremony at Tribeca Rooftop.
