When it comes to choosing where to get married in New York City, each couple is different from the next. Some couples want a venue with a view while others want one that is rich in history and tradition. Access to a picturesque backdrop for taking photos is always a plus. And let’s not forget about cuisine. A guest’s wedding experience is always shaped by the food that is served.

Located at the Southern most corner of Manhattan’s Battery Park, Battery Gardens offers all of these things and more to the couple looking for their perfect wedding venue. New York City’s history began in Battery Park when Dutch Settlers landed there in 1683. Today, it is a 25-acre public park exuding a tranquil beauty that makes visitors completely forget they are actually in bustling metropolis. Nestled within this urban oasis, Battery Gardens has stunning indoor and outdoor spaces that accommodate the wedding from the start of the ceremony to the end of the reception. Esteemed veteran chef Ari Nieminen heads the kitchen, which offers delectable menus designed to meet the highest culinary tastes. And breathtaking vistas of New York Harbor are ever-present through out the wedding festivities.

Finding your wedding dress can be a daunting task. You want to feel and look beautiful as soon as you put it on. You want the dress to be something you can’t stop thinking about even while sifting through rack after rack of other beautiful designs. Ultimately, you want what you wear down the aisle to represent you. Today, we talk with our featured bride Sophia about the moment she knew when to say “yes to the dress.”

Part 2: Wedding Gown & Personals

Like many brides-to-be, Sophia began the search for her wedding dress online. The worldwide web can be an overwhelming place, especially when looking for something that means so much to you. Sophia had an easier time than most though. “I spent a lot of time on the Internet looking for wedding dresses and found one that I kept going back to. As I went through the trying on process, it was the one that I would always compare the other dresses to. It didn’t take long before I knew that that first dress was the one for me.”

Geometric Glamour at the Green Building

Ashley and Tiffany’s Brooklyn wedding at the Green Building featured geometric elements softened by a pastel palette. Their love was felt by the whole room as they tied the knot under a gorgeous suspended floral chandelier!

Ashley and Tiffany were amazing clients to work with! Tiffany had a very specific vision for her wedding decor, and carried elements throughout the whole affair that brought a beautiful softness to Brooklyn’s Green Building. The former brass foundry was built in 1889 and then converted into an event venue. Tiffany recalls how she and Rachel planned the florals for the space. “The venue is very rustic and I knew softening the floral color would bring a romantic feel to the space. I wanted the colors to be soft, however I left everything up to the creative direction of Rachel and her team as far as type of flowers would be used.”

Guests were treated to a stunning suspended floral chandelier under which Ashley and Tiffany exchanged vows. The rounded chandelier was created using lush and voluminous hydrangea for the base, several varieties of white, cream, blush and pink roses, pink carnations, cafe au lait dahlias and greenery.

Tiffany and Ashley carried geometric shapes throughout several of the wedding details to bring cohesion to the decor. It started with a gorgeous geometric invitation by Amanda Day Rose. Interlocking triangles and squares were repeated on table numbers, menus, signage, the wedding cake. For the tablescape, we designed a mixture of pastel toned cafe au lait dahlias, ranunculus, garden roses and Phalaenopsis orchids in terrarium and square glass vases that created a rustic feel across their long tables.

Tiffany recalls that her favorite moment of the night was actually after the wedding! Close family and friends of the brides went on a spontaneous karaoke outing. “Singing in our wedding attire was a perfect end to the night!”

Watching two people start their new life together is one of the best things about weddings. And let’s not forget about the post-ceremony celebrations! For their Guastavino’s reception, Madalyn and Jon underscored the venue’s magnificent interior with décor that was high-impact, yet sophisticated. Still, the night’s mood was joyous and full of energy with guests partying well into the late hours. Here’s the final chapter of Madalyn and Jon’s Bride & Blossom wedding story.

Part 4: Reception, Card Table, and Dance Floor

After Madalyn and Jon said “I do”, festivities got underway with a cocktail hour. “For the reception, I knew that I wanted to have the ceremony flowers suspended over the dance floor,” Madalyn says. While everyone was busy raising their glasses to the newlyweds, the Lucite chuppah was removed to reveal a gorgeous hanging floral chandelier that casted an enchanted air over the rest of the evening.

Part 1: Engagement & Planning

When the time came to propose to Madalyn, Jon made sure the life changing moment would exceed her greatest expectations. Knowing that she wanted to visit Beacon, NY, Jon planned an end-of-summer trip to the picturesque upstate city. Their itinerary started with a scenic Saturday morning hike up Mount Beacon. It was suppose to be a relaxing start to the day, but Jon’s pace suggested otherwise. Madalyn remembers, “He was practically racing up the mountain!”
