“I’ll never forget seeing the ballroom for the first time,” BB Featured Bride Stefanie recalls. Gotham Hall’s grand, cavernous space is marked with a 3,000 square foot ceiling above an inlaid marble floor with classical gilded ornamentation all around. Decorating such a distinctive venue can be tricky. One could play it safe with traditional white or take a risk with a vibrant floral display. Stefanie chose the latter and here, she reminisces about her and Mike’s spectacular ceremony.

After seeing a Broadway show with her mom and grandma, Stefanie planned to meet up with friends for a night out in the city. Stefanie reassured them not to worry about how she would get home – her friend Mike had offered to drive in from East Meadow, just a town over from where her parents lived in Long Island and pick her up. When Pantone named “Classic Blue” as its 2020 Color of the Year, we, admittedly, had mixed emotions. From a floral designer’s standpoint, the announcement presented quite a challenge as there are very few flowers that are naturally blue. At the same time, blue is a timeless, versatile, and emotionally charged color – qualities that make it a perfect fit for weddings. This notion is furthered when we consider what Pantone said in support of its choice.

Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold to a new era.

Beautiful Ideas With Delphinium Wedding Flowers

Also known as the line flower and ‘larkspur’, the delphinium has a long stock covered with tiny blossoms making it the perfect accent for a centerpiece or bouquet. As one of the few true blue flowers in nature, it grows in a spectrum of blue shades ranging from pale and whispery to dark and intense.

The flower’s name originates from the Greek word “delphis” meaning dolphin. This description refers to its closed flower buds, which resemble a dolphin’s nose. In the language of flowers, the delphinium symbolizes an open heart, overall positivity, and fun and cheerfulness. Essentially, every quality you want on hand as you start a new life with the one you love most!
