There’s been a lot of buzz about draping on the wedding design scene lately. While draping as decor isn’t exactly a novel concept, now more than ever couples are using beautiful fabrics in fresh and creative ways to highlight focal points such as a ceremony structure, an entrance, or the dance floor. Just like choosing wedding flowers, there are basics you should know before covering any ceilings or walls. Draping comes in an array of textiles that best complement a desired aesthetic – sheer voile and chiffon are lovely choices for daytime and garden weddings, lavish velvet looks striking in a classic or historical venue, and shimmering satin blends wonderfully into a modern setting. Be sure to reach out to the appropriate vendors for guidance – your planner (if you have one), florist (Bride & Blossom offers draping as part of our design services), venue manager, and lighting person (if you have one) should all be in communication and ready to help execute your vision. Looking for ideas to get you started? Here are examples from the Real BB Weddings archives that take this favorite wedding trend of 2025 to great new heights.

2024 was an amazing year for Real BB Weddings from start to finish. Looking back over the past twelve months, there are moments that defined the beauty, sentiment, and joy only felt when two people commit fully to each other. On each occasion, we were honored to help tell their love story, creating a floral backdrop for the first chapter of many to come. What’s so special about the weddings we are going to share is that while all beautiful and set within New York City’s most desirable venues, they are an authentic reflection of the couple’s singular bond, style, and personality. And from a floral designer’s standpoint, we saw artistic plays on classic white flowers, symbolic designs marrying different cultures and faiths, and decorative themes that captivated with contrast and surprise. Please join us as we relive unforgettable highlights from the Real BB Weddings of 2024.

If you want your wedding reception to have an air of enchanted romance, decorate the tables with lush floral arrangements under candlelight. If you want the room to be an extraordinary scene to remember, make sure the light is coming from colorful tapered candles. Ask anyone in the midst of planning for their big day and they’ll say it didn’t take long to come across a vibrant, flickering display in a wedding editorial or on Instagram and Pinterest. While beautiful, often these ultra-saturated tablescapes are designed on a set for a magazine or to catch your attention while scrolling, leaving the question, “Would that actually work for my wedding?”

Distinctive, dynamic, and versatile come to mind when thinking about the table decor ideas that we are going to highlight. Trading out the single centerpiece, grouped arrangements offer endless design and styling opportunities for your wedding reception. Typically composed of three or more small arrangements, they can feature a floral recipe evenly distributed through the composition or one type of flower in each vase, exuberant color or a monochrome palette, vessels of different sizes and shapes or a uniform collection. Whether your wedding style is classic and sophisticated, contemporary chic, or whimsical garden, the creative possibilities using grouped arrangements are limitless.

To say that 2022 has been an unprecedented year for weddings would be an understatement. It was predicted that more couples would say “I Do” in 2022 than in any other year since 1984. While exact numbers aren’t in yet, our sense is that we’re close to hitting the mark. As wedding florists, we saw firsthand how getting married in a post-pandemic moment influenced our clients’ decisions. Perhaps it had to do with the slowing down and reflection that happened during 2020-2021, but couples were more willing than ever before to take risks and be creative when it came to flowers and decor, attire, food, and entertainment. Expectations about everything being ‘perfect’ gave way to being fully present during this once-in-a-lifetime event. While many of the weddings we are about to highlight look spectacular on an aesthetic level, upon further inspection, you will see that they are speckled with unique and meaningful details that are a sincere expression of the couple’s love and personality. Please join us as we look back at the Real BB Weddings of 2022.
