The unmatched allure of Gurney’s Montauk is the picturesque beach setting, which offers a breathtaking backdrop for saying “I Do.” From their first vacation as a couple in Puerto Rico to getting engaged in Miami, Dayna and Matthew shared their most special moments together near the water. “Gurney’s was our dream spot for getting married,” Dayna says. Here she talks about her and Matthew’s unforgettable oceanside ceremony.

Part 3: Ceremony

The moon gate ceremony arch is undeniably beautiful for many reasons. Its unique shape offers a myriad of possibilities for floral décor and styling. Symbolically, the circle represents unending love, unity, and protection. While the moon gate floods wedding blogs, Pinterest, and Instagram feeds, we have created only a few round designs for our Real BB Weddings. When Dayna proposed the idea in our meeting, we were very excited and couldn’t wait to start working on bringing her vision to life.

When Dayna and Matthew first met at the go-to-Friday-night bar in their senior year of college, sparks flew right away. “I wasn’t looking for anything serious though. I was just trying to have a good time. But Matthew was very persistent that we were going to continue dating,” Dayna looks back and says with a laugh. His relentless effort paid off and eight years later, the couple exchanged vows in a magnificent summer wedding at Gurney’s Montauk.

We are excited to introduce Dayna, our BB Featured Bride for June. Here she shares the first part of her and Matthew’s love story.

When it comes to wedding cakes these days, taste is just one of the factors that couples consider when deciding on what to serve their guests. Now more than ever, natural flowers and greenery are replacing the traditional cake topper to create fresh, one-of-kind designs. We always get excited when our couples ask us to set aside elements from their floral theme to decorate their wedding cake. A few pillowy peonies on top, a cascade of garden roses, and a ring of ivy can take the basic white dessert to the next level. From petite and sweet to blooming show-stoppers, here’s a look at some of our favorite petal trimmed confections from the Real BB Weddings archives.

Scientists have conducted numerous research studies to confirm that certain colors have special ‘powers’ that influence our emotions and behaviors. The official term is ‘color psychology.’ Red is associated with passion, blue is calming, yellow means happiness, pink is romantic, orange is playful, green is refreshing and purple relates to creativity. As wedding floral designers, one of the best perks of the job is getting to witness the power of color first hand.

Sure, all white with a touch of green here and there is a classic mainstay that looks great across seasons and venues. This post is for our readers who are thinking about exploring color’s emotional expression. Often in our experience, a few slight adjustments in intensity and brightness is what is needed to take an arrangement to the next level. An exuberant floral theme just sings to the joyous feelings of love that fill a couple’s big day. For inspiration, we went through the Real BB Weddings archives and rounded up our favorite vibrant wedding palette ideas.

The evening’s celebrations commenced with guests enjoying hors oeuvres and raising the first of many glasses to Laura and Charlie. While everyone mingled, the newlyweds took advantage of this time to finally relax and relish the moment. “I loved sneaking away with Charlie after the ceremony,” Laura remembers. “We were able to eat our cocktail hour food by ourselves and reflect on the fact that we were officially married!” Here, she shares the final chapter in her Real BB Wedding Story.

Imagine being met by lush florals and greenery with every step you take down the aisle. Going big with ceremony pathway décor was a major emerging trend last year with our brides. Scattered rose petals and candles (which are absolutely beautiful!) were given over to flourishing, natural arrangements that looked like a garden in full bloom. Aptly described as a ‘living’ aisle, these show-stopping scenes captivate the eye to no end. Our client proposals for the upcoming wedding season indicate that this floral love affair is here to stay. From wildly romantic to prim and polished, here are décor ideas for making the big walk all you dreamed of and more.
