The evening’s festivities commenced with cocktail hour where guests enjoyed appetizers and the bride and groom’s signature drinks – Dayna’s was the champagne-based Day ‘n’ Nite and Matthew’s was the tequila based Matty Ocean. Soon after, the newlyweds made their reception entrance to Kanye West’s “Waves,” which established the tone for what kind of party this was going to be. Dayna looks back and says, “We had so much fun picking our wedding songs. Our choices were offbeat, but so true to us. Even our DJ – DJ Jon Blak who was absolutely amazing – was surprised by our selections.” Here, she shares the final chapter in their Real BB Wedding story.

The unmatched allure of Gurney’s Montauk is the picturesque beach setting, which offers a breathtaking backdrop for saying “I Do.” From their first vacation as a couple in Puerto Rico to getting engaged in Miami, Dayna and Matthew shared their most special moments together near the water. “Gurney’s was our dream spot for getting married,” Dayna says. Here she talks about her and Matthew’s unforgettable oceanside ceremony.

Part 3: Ceremony

The moon gate ceremony arch is undeniably beautiful for many reasons. Its unique shape offers a myriad of possibilities for floral décor and styling. Symbolically, the circle represents unending love, unity, and protection. While the moon gate floods wedding blogs, Pinterest, and Instagram feeds, we have created only a few round designs for our Real BB Weddings. When Dayna and Matthew first met at the go-to-Friday-night bar in their senior year of college, sparks flew right away. “I wasn’t looking for anything serious though. I was just trying to have a good time. But Matthew was very persistent that we were going to continue dating,” Dayna looks back and says with a laugh. His relentless effort paid off and eight years later, the couple exchanged vows in a magnificent summer wedding at Gurney’s Montauk.

We are excited to introduce Dayna, our BB Featured Bride for June. Here she shares the first part of her and Matthew’s love story.

Your reception is going to be the longest part of your wedding. From the decor details to the furniture, how you choose to display your tablescape will have a huge impact on the tone of the evening. And that dreaded task of putting together the seating chart? Compared to smaller round tables, they are easier to arrange guests in a way so that everyone feels equally welcome. Basically, you wont be faced with the question, “Who are we going to put at the far corner table?”

Scientists have conducted numerous research studies to confirm that certain colors have special ‘powers’ that influence our emotions and behaviors. The official term is ‘color psychology.’ Red is associated with passion, blue is calming, yellow means happiness, pink is romantic, orange is playful, green is refreshing and purple relates to creativity. As wedding floral designers, one of the best perks of the job is getting to witness the power of color first hand.

Sure, all white with a touch of green here and there is a classic mainstay that looks great across seasons and venues. This post is for our readers who are thinking about exploring color’s emotional expression. Often in our experience, a few slight adjustments in intensity and brightness is what is needed to take an arrangement to the next level. An exuberant floral theme just sings to the joyous feelings of love that fill a couple’s big day. For inspiration, we went through the Real BB Weddings archives and rounded up our favorite vibrant wedding palette ideas.
