When we were tagged in a photo on Instagram featuring artwork of preserved baby’s breath, our first thought was, “Wow! This is beautiful!” Admittedly, our second thought was, “But, what does this have to do with our wedding flowers?” Then we saw that a past bride had made the post and also tagged Soil + Soul Studio. Turns out, the tiny white flowers were actually taken from a bouquet of baby’s breath we made for Holly, the past bride, to carry at her wedding last year. There are many reasons for wanting lofty table décor – it commands the eye while creating an alluring reception atmosphere. From a practical standpoint, a high centerpiece allows for more space below to accommodate the ever-flowing drinks and cuisine. One major trend we saw in our 2019 Real BB Weddings was the harlow stand. Taking the place of a tall vase, the harlow stand is 4-post metal structure used to display flowers. It is available in various heights and colors such as gold, silver, bronze, and black.

When Pantone named “Classic Blue” as its 2020 Color of the Year, we, admittedly, had mixed emotions. From a floral designer’s standpoint, the announcement presented quite a challenge as there are very few flowers that are naturally blue. At the same time, blue is a timeless, versatile, and emotionally charged color – qualities that make it a perfect fit for weddings. This notion is furthered when we consider what Pantone said in support of its choice.

Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold to a new era.
