As soon as Ashley started planning, she knew that her and Tiffany’s wedding would look and feel different from any before. Here, the bride with an eye for design talks about blending personal touches into an ultra-stylish ceremony.

Part 3: Ceremony and Floral Chandelier

The Green Building had all the qualities Ashley, our featured bride and aspiring wedding planner, was looking for: an open, bare space offering endless creative options for styling and décor. “Wedding décor is constantly evolving,” says Ashley. “I feel like a great way to accentuate and bring romance and drama to a space is with hanging flowers. If there’s one time in your life to wear something that reflects the truest you, it’s when you get married. And not everyone dreams of wearing a long, flowing wedding dress down the aisle. Just ask our featured bride Ashley. Here, she talks about her stunning Jean-Ralph Thurin ensemble and the personal touches that she incorporated into the big day.

Part 2: Wedding Ensemble & Personals

When asked about how she chose her wedding day attire, Ashley begins, “I knew that I didn’t want to wear a dress.” Today, just about every top designer includes a few alternative options for the fashion-forward bride. She continues, “But I couldn’t find anything in the local boutiques. After Jean and Bryan exchanged vows, guests gathered in the iconic lobby of the Bronx Post Office for cocktail hour. Everyone enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres amidst the backdrop of the famous murals by artist Ben Shaun. Once the newlyweds made their happy entrance, celebrations really got underway.

Part 4: Reception, Heat Table, and Centerpieces

As everyone entered the reception area, an atmospheric evening light had just started filtering through the venue to beautiful effect. Jean and Bryan along with thirty guests took their seats at the head table where they were welcomed by a magnificent floral display evoking a mood of enchanted romance. A gorgeous mix curly willow, blush cherry blossoms, white hydrangeas, roses, snapdragons, delphiniums, burgundy scabiosas, brunia berries, and greenery were arranged on tall metal stands. Accented by teardrop-shaped glass bubbled, the blooms gave the impression of a floral chandelier hanging above the tablescape. Complementing petite floral arrangements brought an intimate feel to the dining space.

Jean & Bryan Say “I do” In A Beautiful, Heartfelt Ceremony

Jean & Bryan – Wedding Ceremony – Bronx Post Office – by Karen Wise

It was just days before their wedding at the Bronx Post Office and Jean and Bryan still didn’t know how the space was going to look. Uncertainty wasn’t with the décor – they had all those boxes checked. It had to do with the fact that through out the planning and design process, the couple was continually working against the day-to-day changes that the space was undergoing in the midst of construction.

Jean and Bryan alleviated many of their anxieties by making sentiment and tradition ever present themes through out the day. And once the bride and her father took to the aisle, it was clear to everyone that the couple’s wedding vision had been realized, and ultimately exceeded all expectations.

Some brides-to-be know exactly what style of wedding dress they want. While others start their search with no idea at all. Then there are those, like our featured bride Jean, who go in with a set look in mind and completely surprise themselves with what they end up wearing down the aisle.

Part 2: Saying Yes To The Dress & Personals

Once the venue and date were confirmed, Jean had only four months to look for a dress. Because of her busy schedule and short timeline, she sometimes attended bridal salon appointments alone and her sisters and mother joined whenever possible. One afternoon, she and her oldest sister, Joanne, made another visit to Monique Lhuillier on the Upper East Side. The esteemed fashion designer is known for her frothy tulle skirts, dramatic silhouettes, and decorative flourishes. Jean, on the other hand, envisioned herself wearing something classic and simple, but with a modern sensibility. So when her sister pointed out the Fleur gown, she didn’t think much of it at first. “I would never have chosen the dress for myself. It was completely the opposite of what I ever pictured myself in!” says Jean. The blush colored design featured a voluminous, multi-tiered ball gown skirt and strapless lace top. “After trying the dress on for my mother and other sisters, it was clear this was the one.” Jean accessorized her stunning gown with a cathedral length veil, also by Monique Lhuillier, and Ferragamo patent leather sandals.
