The dress, jewelry, and flowers, – these are the elements that make up a bride’s armor so to speak. She chooses each with the utmost thought and care as they define how she wants to look and feel on the biggest day of her life. This is particularly true for the woman getting married in a traditional Indian wedding. Here, our BB Featured Bride Rashna talks about her ceremonial attire and accessories.

Bridal Attire, Henna, & Jewelry

When it came time to start searching for what she was going to wear at her wedding, Rashna got to skip the usual process of jumping from appointment to appointment at the local bridal boutiques. She explains, “My wedding dress had to be a traditional South Indian kanjeevaram saree. But I was lucky, because I was able to pick out my colors.” She chose a stunning jewel tone yellow and orange saree decorated with gold accents.

One of the best parts of our job is seeing a wedding become a marriage of different cultures. Special rituals, customs, and traditions bond two people together in a way that happens once in a lifetime. With this idea in mind, we are excited to introduce Rashna, our Bride & Blossom Featured Bride for March. “The Indian culture is beautiful and something that I think more people should be exposed to,” says Rashna. “What better way to celebrate my culture that at my wedding?” She and Sean exchanged vows on a beautiful day at the Bronx Zoo. The power of a photograph to conjure memories and emotions from the most important times in our lives is undeniable. This is especially true for wedding photographs. Since childhood, Kim Mancuso has had a fascination for the captured image and its ability to share experiences and stories. We were first introduced to Kim’s work through BB Featured Bride Kristen’s summer wedding at Trumpet at The Gate. From the intimate moments to the grand gestures, her photographs were an authentic expression of the day from beginning to end.

Kim just launched her new photography website. With the Spring/Summer wedding season just around the corner, we thought it would be a great idea to interview Kim for our Women Paving the Aisle series. Here, she talks about her professional journey, unique approach to photographing weddings, building trust with clients, and creative inspirations.

Hilary made clear her plans for a lavish New York wedding right from the very start. Such an occasion calls for a remarkable dress. “Everyone tried to convince me to wear a ball gown since I was going to be a princess at The Plaza. But I knew that wasn’t me. I am much more one to show off my girlish figure,” she says with a laugh. Here, Hilary talks about her gorgeous Rivini wedding dress and bridal personals.

Part 2: Wedding Dress & Personals

“I always envisioned trying on a dress and just knowing – that is exactly what happened!” recalls Hilary. Finding ‘the one’ took some time though. Hilary had already made a few visits to the bridal salon prior to meeting her mom and sister there one afternoon. “I knew that I needed to have them with me, to see it and fall in love too. When I walked out of the dressing room in the Rivini gown, we all just knew.”

With just six months between getting engaged and the day of her wedding, Lorenza had to move fast on major decisions that take most brides over a year to make. She knew this. So when her mother made an appointment at Kleinfeld, her goal was to walk out having said ‘yes to the dress’. Here, Lorenza talks about her breathtaking Pnina Tornai ensemble and the personal touches that made her wedding day so special.

Part 2: Wedding Dress & Personals

“I knew there would be so many gorgeous dresses that I could love,” recalls Lorenza. “I narrowed down one dress on Kleinfeld’s website before going in.” At her appointment, she was presented with three dresses including the dress she found online. Lorenza looks back and says with a laugh, “Sure enough, when I tried on that dress, I knew it was “the one. I was undoubtedly Kleinfeld’s fastest sale.”

Do you know which flower to give to friends and family born in November? Chrysanthemum, the month’s designated birth flower! Festive, eye-catching, and versatile, it’s also a wonderful bloom to incorporate into fall weddings. From bouquets to wedding cakes, we’ve rounded up pretty floral décor ideas with chrysanthemums, this month’s BB Bloom in Spotlight.

Chrysanthemums (commonly known as “mums”) were first cultivated in China where the flower was documented in writings as early as 15th century BC. Around 400 AD, the bloom was introduced to Japan. So taken by the flower’s beauty, the Japanese adopted it as the emperor’s crest and official seal. After being introduced to Europe in the 17th century, the chrysanthemum received its present day name, which derives from the Greek words “chrysos” meaning gold (its original color) and “anthemon” meaning flower. Cultivation over the years has produced various types and colors including white, red, and purple. In the language of flowers, the chrysanthemum represents longevity, fidelity, joy, and optimism. With attributes like these, it’s no wonder couples want the flower close by on their wedding day!
