Truth be told, for each Real BB Weddings bride who embraces pink for her wedding bouquet, there’s one just behind her who wants nothing to do with the color. Pink symbolizes compassion, femininity, love, and romance – everything you want on your big day. And because of this, it tends to be a bold color on the eye and emotions, thus, influencing the overall aesthetics and mood of a weddingscape. If your style is modern, refined, or understated, high-impact may not be what you are going for. Recently, however, we are seeing clients use pink in innovating ways that will make naysayers have a change of heart. Neutral, muted, soft blush, even nude are the adjectives that come to mind when describing these calming pink tones that are appearing more and more in bridal arrangements.

Flowers are used to punctuate the most important elements of a wedding’s decor and atmosphere. Florals are also used to differentiate those closest and dearest to you, namely members of your wedding party who have been more involved in both the planning and celebration. For many couples, mom is at the top of this list. From finding a venue to choosing your dress, she’s been with you every step of the way and deserves to be recognized for her love, guidance, and support. When asked about her desired floral style for her wedding at the New York Botanical Garden’s Stone Mill, Real BB Bride Alexandra replied, “When I met with Bride & Blossom, I explained that I wanted to complement the already beautiful space, with an elevated, wildflower theme.” She continues, “Flowers that felt romantic, whimsical, and chic, but not overly edited. And the colors to capture the impression of a golden sunlight with pops of yellow, orange and pink highlights.” Ever since talking with Alexandra, we’ve been obsessed with the idea of using blossoms we see growing freely in meadows, fields, and forests and tailoring them for an upscale special event.

Rectangular, also referred to as ‘communal’ or ‘farmhouse,’ is a popular type of table shape used in Real BB Weddings. Similar to their round counterpart, rectangular tables seat 8 to 10 guests and typically measure eight-feet by 42-inches. We often see rectangular tables used in a mix-and-match reception layout, either with circular or banquet seating. We do want to point out that while rectangular encourages a relaxed and ‘familial’ atmosphere, socializing can be limited where guests may end up talking to the person sitting next to them. From a floral designer’s standpoint, what is so appealing about this type of table is how it offers ample surface for a variety of centerpiece styles and decor. It also wins major points for versatility and can be set up in the dining room of a private estate or in a chic industrial space. From lush, romantic garlands to posh and modern arrangements, here are beautiful centerpiece ideas for rectangular tables culled from the Real BB Wedding archives.

After Alexandra and Robert’s ceremony, guests gathered for cocktail hour to raise the first of many glasses to congratulate the newlyweds. “The weather had been beautiful all day long,” the bride remembers. “Golden hour was just ending, and the night felt magical. I really couldn’t have imagined a better way to celebrate the start of our marriage.” Here, Alexandra shares the final chapter of their Real BB Wedding story.

Part 4: Reception & Centerpieces

Spirits were high once pre-dinner drinks and hors d’oeuvres concluded. Everyone headed upstairs to The Stone Mill’s dining room where they were welcomed by a warm, enchanted atmosphere. Tables were decorated with low centerpieces featuring roses, ranunculuses, dahlias, lisianthus, oncidium orchids, pieris, and abelia in shades of golden yellow, orange, peach, blush, white, and cream complemented by Italian ruscus and silver dollar eucalyptus. The mix of classic blooms and flowering plants worked to capture Alexandra’s wedding vision of a whimsical garden accentuating the venue’s charmed beauty. “The light pink taper candles added soft elegance, while illuminating the flowers’ texture and dimension. We also trimmed the main ceiling beam with trailing ivy,” she notes.
