Scenes From Last Night’s Flower Class: Contemporary Centerpieces

Last night’s flower-class theme was Contemporary Centerpieces and we had so much fun! Fresh, bright blooms, including fuchsia carnations, yellow pincushion protea and green dianthus, set the tone for bold, modern arrangements.

Expert floral stylist, Dawn, led the demonstration (in an adorable yellow dress!), while students got hands-on experience preparing and working with flowers. Contemporary table centerpieces tend feature strong lines, unusual flowers or greenery and unexpected texture. Here you’ll notice a geometric look, created with a square base and diagonal greens. These modern floral arrangements are very different in style from the softer, romantic florals featured in classes like Roses & Rose.

Photos from Pomanders & Prosecco

Flower Class NYC 28

Here’s a look behind the scenes of our recent flower class, Pomanders & Prosecco. Expert floral stylist, Dieter, demonstrated the technique of crafting pomanders, using vibrant, fuchsia carnations. We love welcoming attendees into our new showroom, and seeing everyone’s enthusiasm as they learn how to use tools of the trade. Best of all, we just love meeting others who love flowers!

If you attended our flower class, please post your own photos on social media, tagged #brideandblossomnyc. We’ll repost and share. And if you use skills learned in class to create your own gorgeous floral arrangements at home, share those photos, too! If you haven’t come to class yet, why wait? Our next class, Contemporary Centerpieces, is coming up on September 9. Visit our Events page to check out all upcoming flower classes.

Floral Chandelier for Chelsea Piers Wedding

Floral Chandelier at Chelsea-PIers-by-Andrea-FischmanSunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers

Are you as obsessed with floral chandeliers as we are? Hanging florals have taken over everyone’s Pinterest boards and we believe this wedding trend is here to stay. Luxurious hanging florals uplevel the entire look of a wedding. We were thrilled when bride Renee told us she was dreaming of a gorgeous, showstopping floral chandelier, for her wedding on Chelsea Piers’ Sunset Terrace in Manhattan.

Renee decided on an overall wedding-color palette of white, cream, blush and peach. We selected white and cream flowers with lush greens for the floral chandelier. A natural look, with lots of mixed texture, felt right for this summer wedding overlooking the Hudson River.

Wedding Flower Details From The Rachael Ray Show

Valentine's Wedding Flowers for Rachael Ray SHow

When we were invited to design wedding flowers for a segment on The Rachael Ray Show, we didn’t have much time. We also didn’t have input from the bride; the producers wanted to surprise her! We knew one thing: this bride deserved to have the best wedding flowers.

For a Valentine’s Day wedding, we couldn’t think of anything more classic and romantic than using shades of red and pink! Our collaborator, Genevieve Gorder, agreed the look should be lush and lovely and have a bit of modern twist.

To achieve this look, we couldn’t use just any old shade of red or pink… We carefully selected each color, making sure each shade complimented one another.

Carnations are Hot!

We love CARNATIONS! They have made a comeback and are no longer considered a taboo wedding flower. They look great paired with Hydrangea to add depth to an arrangement and come in so many vibrant colors that work well as fillers. Our personal favorite is using them alone in tight, compact arrangements giving them an elegant, modern look.
