Bride & Blossom Featured Bride Marianna On Her Floating Chuppah

One of the best things about being a floral designer in New York City is working with brides who incorporate their own special traditions into their wedding day. The chuppah, a significant feature of a Jewish ceremony symbolizing the home of the soon-to-be married couple, lets a bride be creative and express their personality and style. This week, we talked with our featured bride Marianna about her jaw-dropping chuppah and how she felt on her wedding day.

Part 2: Gown & Personals

When we asked Marianna about saying yes to the dress, she told us, “I knew I wanted a classic Vera Wang sweetheart ball gown. I only tried on four dresses, and the last dress was the one I went with. I immediately fell in love with the classic design and long bridal train. I knew it was the perfect dress because I felt like a princess.” Not many brides-to-be have it this easy in the hunt for a wedding dress. But take just one look at Marianna wearing her breathtaking Dagmar gown by Vera Wang and you can tell that it was meant to be. She completed her bridal attire with a sweeping cathedral veil, also from Vera Wang’s Iconic Wedding Collection.

6 Outside-the-Box Wedding Venues in NYC

One of the most exciting parts of planning your wedding is choosing a venue that really reflects you and your partner. Here in New York, your options could range from a luxury penthouse on Central Park to a rose garden in the Bronx with a flock of peacocks in attendance. You name it, New York can almost always make it happen. But it’s easy to limit your possibilities to the places you already know and love.  Today, we rounded up six NYC venues you may have never thought of as the perfect spot to say “I do”…

1) Museum of the Moving Image – Astoria, Queens

Sure, it might look a little off the beaten path, (though truly it’s minutes from Manhattan via the Queensboro Bridge) but the moment you walk in to the Museum of the Moving Image, you’re transported to a slick, sexy, futuristic wonderland.  Galleries remain open during private events, so your guests can tour the hundreds of interactive experiences, film artifacts, video games, and the uber-modern, all-white courtyard.  Plus, custom content designed by you and your partner can be projected on the walls throughout the space, or straight onto the big screen.

1) Use a #Hashtag

The easiest way to keep track of social media memories is to come up with a unique hashtag for your wedding, and make sure guests are aware of it. The hashtag can be as simple as putting both of your names together and adding the word “wedding,” ie., BB creative director Lindsay Saltz‘s wedding hashtag could have been #lindsayandaaronwedding. Wedding Wire even has this handy wedding hashtag generator, if you’re feeling lazy or uninspired. Put your hashtag on your save the dates, wedding website, and even escort cards, and have your on-site staff encourage avid Instagramming.
