White Wedding at The Ritz-Carlton Battery Park

elegant-white-weding-tablescape

This elegant white wedding, at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park, is a lesson in the art of the tablescape. Steal a few ideas and enchant your holiday guests.

White flowers will never go out of style for weddings, and they look beautiful for any season. When sticking to a monochromatic color palette, the key is to get creative with texture and shapes. Here, we created arrangements of various sizes, featuring hydrangea, stock blossoms, dahlias, Tibet roses, garden roses, ranunculus and football mums. Using so many types of flowers meant blossoms that range from small and delicate, to large and striking. We used a single flower type in each silver mercury-glass bud vase, then played up the sparkle and shine, by arranging the vases along a mirrored runner, with a series of chic, crystal candelabras and small, clear and mercury glass votives. When lit, the overall effect welcomed guests with an ethereal glow. We love the look of all-white linens with that subtle hint of pale blue from the stem glasses

Bouquet Recipe: Organic & Textured

anemone-bouquet-battery-gardens

Beautiful bride Courtney wanted garden-like wedding flowers that looked almost fresh picked. We’ll be sharing more from the waterfront ceremony and reception at Manhattan’s Battery Gardens soon, but first, this special bouquet warranted a new bouquet recipe.

If you’re planning your own wedding right now and you’ve just started gathering inspiration, you might feel confused about terminology. Love this look? Ask your wedding florist for a natural or organic shape with texture and dimension. The shape here is softly rounded, but not round or compact.

Courtney’s bouquet was composed of ivory and white garden roses, white anemones and ranunculus, blush La Perla roses, with accents of seeded eucalyptus and cascading jasmine vines. We think it looked perfect with the bride’s loose, romantic waves and that gorgeous champagne dress with the delicate, dark-lace overlay.

Mood Board: Castle Garden Wedding

Mood Board-Castle-Garden

After meeting a bride-to-be and talking with her about initial thoughts and inspirations, we put together mood boards and color palettes. Today, we’re sharing a mood board for an outdoor wedding, held in the gardens of a castle venue. Ceremony inspiration images, of a lavish floral arrangement set in a stone urn, and a grass aisle thickly strewn with petals, set a romantic, extravagant tone, perfect for this setting.

Starting with a soft color palette of peach, ivory, blush and green, we added depth by choosing flowers that also incorporated slightly more saturated tones. Peach Juliet garden roses deepen to coral at their centers. Butter-yellow parrot tulips pick up the warm tones present in cream hydrangea and stock, and ivory garden roses. Pale blush comes into play with ranunculus, and with the outer petals of pink tree peonies, while that flower’s deeper-pink, inner petals surround a yellow center. Italian ruskus, jasmine vines, seeded eucalyptus and geranium leaf added a range of medium to dark greens, and lush textures, evocative of a summer garden in fullest bloom.

Mood Board: Bridal Bouquet Inspiration

Mood Board - Floral Inspirations White Bridal Bouquet

For a bride-to-be who wants classic, romantic, white, wedding flowers, we created this mood board with an inspiration shot of a very full, rounded bridal bouquet. White ranunculus and garden roses, with warm ivory to cream centers, will give the bouquet sumptuous, petal-dense texture, with enough soft depth to stand out against a white wedding dress.

I wanted to share this particular mood board because it’s a great example of how we, as wedding floral designers, execute ideas. A simple, classic, white, wedding bouquet is always an elegant choice. By putting thought and care into flower selection and an exacting color palette, we are able to elevate a simple concept. The result will be a beautiful, bespoke bridal bouquet, with a look that is both timeless and utterly of-the-moment.

Mood Board: Candlelit Florals for Cocktail Hour

Let this mood board inspire you next time you set your table to entertain. Flowers in candlelight truly create a sense of magic and romance that makes any evening more beautiful and memorable. We love to create groupings of small floral arrangements in glass vases of varying heights. Setting the vases and candle holders on a glass or mirrored surface adds extra glimmer. Small mirrored disks or highly polished metal trays are the way to get this effect at home.

Wedding cocktail hours should feel warm and romantic. Old friends catch up as new flirtations start up! Guests experiences a moment of shared emotion before celebration and dancing. One bride-to-be asked us to create a glowing space for her guests to enjoy cocktail hour, with candles and flowers on every surface. Instead of the classic red roses in the inspiration image, we presented her with a softer, summer color palette. Big, voluptuous coral peonies, palest blush ranunculus, peach Juliet garden roses and peach parrot tulips, with their unusual, ruffled petals, will all look stunning, set aglow in candle light.

Bouquet Recipe: Pretty Peach & Purple Petals

bridal-bouquet-recipe-peach-and-purple

Rich, vibrant hues and unexpected contrast made this bridesmaids’ bouquet stand out.

Wedding-flower color schemes are always carefully considered by brides and wedding florists. In fact, color is often the first thing our brides mention in our conversation about types of wedding flowers. To achieve the layered, painterly look of this bouquet, it was essential to select exactly the perfect shades of peach and purple.

Cool-toned purple hydrangea formed a lush base. Pale-peach garden roses brought softness to the color palette, while ranunculus, in a brighter, sunset shade of peach, infused the bouquet with warmth. Deep-purple dahlias added richness. We finished the bouquet with accents of silver-green dusty miller leaves.
